United Soccer Association Appoints Ed Pena as Referee & Assignor Liaison

The United Soccer Association (USA League) is proud to announce the appointment of Ed Pena as the league’s Referee & Assignor Liaison, a newly established role designed to strengthen communication between the league, its referees, assignors, and the Florida State Referee (FSR) program.

With a distinguished career spanning over four decades, Ed Pena brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the USA League. Since beginning his officiating journey in 1978, Ed has earned widespread respect as both a referee and assignor throughout the Tampa Bay Area and beyond. His deep involvement at all levels of the game, from grassroots to competitive tournaments has made him a trusted figure in Florida’s soccer community and in officiating circles.

In his new role, Ed will serve as a direct link between the USA League and FSR, ensuring consistent standards, improved coordination, and enhanced support for referees and assignors. His continued active engagement in officiating for clubs, leagues, and tournaments both in state and out of state positions him uniquely to advocate for the needs of match officials and foster a collaborative environment.
