The family is widely considered the basic unit of society and plays a crucial role in the overall well-being of individuals and communities. We will be sharing key aspects highlighting the importance of the family in the development of our young soccer players. Families provide emotional support and a sense of belonging. Having a supportive family can contribute to emotional stability, resilience, and mental well-being. Try to attend as many games as you can, no matter the age group.

Enough is enough. Think of the harm being done to the children. We need the cooperation from ALL the parents.

In a 1v1 interview, England, Tottenham, Leicester, and FC Barcelona LEGEND, Gary Lineker, the topic of soccer parents came up and Lineker pulled no punches in his remarks. "Parents standing in the sidelines getting carried away, shouting and bawling instructions and 99.9% of what they say is wrong…it’s instilling fear".

This type of behavior from the sidelines puts SERIOUS pressure on young players and inhibits their chances of making it. Kids should play soccer with joy and expression, not fear and pressure. Interferences from the sideline undermine the coach’s work and are extremely harmful to the progress of the team as a whole. The United Soccer Association does not tolerate this kind of behavior. Please help us do better during our games.

One of the things we hear a lot from players is how they wished they understood a little bit about the different positions they could specialize in. You may like strikers Ronaldo or Messi, but you might want to try out other positions that you may be better suited for. Today, we'll talk about goalies:

The goalkeeper's primary role is to prevent the opposing team from scoring goals by stopping shots on goal and organizing the defense. They are the only player allowed to use their hands within their penalty area.

Is this you? Interferences from the sideline undermine the coach’s work and are extremely harmful to the progress of the team as a whole. The ONLY thing parents should be considering from the bleachers is support. No instructions. No criticism. No challenging the refs. No questioning the coach. At the youth level, the focus is on skill development and fun, not results. Winning comes later.

Interesting the last few weeks I’ve seen many coaches yelling at 8-10 year olds. The parents have been respectful at all games we have attended…supportive and encouraging…but the coaches frequently, have not. That is damaging to the mental health and confidence of young players and should not be tolerated. There is no reason for coaches to be so harsh, these are children, not professionals.

At the United Soccer Association, we are clear on our support of the US Womens National Team. It is easy to criticize a team when it is down on its luck, but the fact is the success of the United States Women's National Soccer Team (USWNT) is a story of both sporting achievement and cultural impact. The USWNT has achieved remarkable success on the international stage, winning numerous titles and breaking records. Here are some key highlights:

1. World Cup Success:
The USWNT has won the FIFA Women's World Cup four times: in 1991, 1999, 2015, and 2019. The 2015 victory was particularly significant as it highlighted the team's dominance and showcased its ability to consistently perform at the highest level.
2. Olympic Dominance:
The USWNT has won four Olympic gold medals in women's soccer: in 1996, 2004, 2008, and 2012. They won the bronze medal in 2020.
3. Record-Breaking Players:
The USWNT has produced some of the most iconic and skilled soccer players in the history of the sport, such as Mia Hamm, Abby Wambach, Hope Solo, Carli Lloyd, Alex Morgan, Megan Rapinoe, and more. Players like Abby Wambach and Carli Lloyd have set records for goals scored in international tournaments.
4. Cultural Impact:
The USWNT's success has transcended sports and sparked important discussions about gender equality, pay equity, and women's empowerment. The team's outspokenness on social and political issues, as well as their advocacy for equal pay and LGBTQ+ rights, has positioned them as powerful advocates for change.
5. Equal Pay Campaign:
One of the most prominent aspects of the USWNT's impact is their fight for equal pay. The players have been advocating for equal compensation and treatment compared to the U.S. Men's National Soccer Team (USMNT), highlighting the gender pay gap in sports.
6. Inspiration for Future Generations: The USWNT's success has inspired countless young girls and women to pursue soccer and other sports, breaking down gender stereotypes and encouraging female athletes to dream big.
7. Media Attention and Popularity:
The team's achievements have led to increased media coverage of women's soccer, raising its profile and popularity globally.
8. Skill and Style of Play:
The USWNT is known for its dynamic and attacking style of play, showcasing both individual skill and teamwork.
While the USWNT's success is unquestionable, the team has also faced challenges, including ongoing battles for gender equity and recognition. Despite these challenges, their accomplishments and influence have significantly advanced women's soccer on a global scale, inspiring change and promoting inclusivity in the world of sports.

7. Media Attention and Popularity:
The teams achievements have led to increased media coverage of womens soccer, raising its profile and popularity globally.
8. Skill and Style of Play:
The USWNT is known for its dynamic and attacking style of play, showcasing both individual skill and teamwork.
While the USWNTs success is unquestionable, the team has also faced challenges, including ongoing battles for gender equity and recognition. Despite these challenges, their accomplishments and influence have significantly advanced womens soccer on a global scale, inspiring change and promoting inclusivity in the world of sports.

At the United Soccer Association clubs, we encourage children to learn soccer at an early age because of the multiple benefits. It can help them develop their physical skills, such as balance, coordination, and agility. It can also enhance their cognitive abilities, such as decision-making, problem-solving, and spatial awareness.

In addition, playing soccer at a young age can help children develop important social skills. It teaches them how to work as part of a team, communicate effectively with their teammates and coaches, and develop respect for others.
